Case Submission Instructions

These steps are for  Members Meeting Cases only

if your submission is for the Scientific Session, follow this link

Complete the submission form preferably online or alternatively by downloaded hardcopy form and return by deadline of

January 31, 2010

For submitting cases for the Members Meeting proceed as follows:

1.    Click on the button above .. You will be connected to the Editorial Manager System
2    Log in [upper left corner of screen] as existing user (user name and password from previous submissions to Skeletal Radiology) or register as a new account (follow the instructions and you will get a user name and a password) [upper left corner of screen].
3   When offered option "submit new manuscript" select the article type from the pull down menu: "ISS Abstract (Scientific Focus Session) or ISS Cases (Members Meeting).
4   The process for submission is then the same as for the journal but your material will be directed to the ISS Members Meeting Chairperson as "editor" and the Committee as "referees".  The Committee will review the material anonymously.
5    You will be requested to provide the following information:

Title:          Provide radiologic and pathologic diagnoses
    Author(s):      List
Comments:     Provide clinical information and reasons for presentation.

Indicate whether you are an ISS member or not.

Attach files:    Because we use the normal Skeletal Radiology submission system and the review process is fully blinded, you have to upload your text including references (see guidelines below) in one (doc) file and attach it. Also attach your title of your Case as a separate file. The same holds true for your figures.

a)    Radiologic images:  Preferentially these should be submitted electronically through the online submission system.  An alternative is to send them by mail on a CD ROM in a TIF or JPEG format (we would also accept Power Point format if necessary).  If you do not have access to an electronic format, you may still submit images in the form of traditional X-rays.  Pathologists presenting cases are advised to seek assistance from their radiologic colleagues to ensure optimal selection of images.  In general, relevant plain X-rays, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, T1 and T2 weighted MRI (or STIR) images, gadolinium images and CT scans (soft tissue window if soft tissue lesion; bone and soft tissue window if bone lesion) should be submitted if available. Cases of purely radiologic interest may be submitted without histologic accompaniment.
b)    Histologic images: In order to expedite the review process by the pathology members of the Members Program Committee, we request that you submit at least four recuts of each of the histologic slides you have selected.  In cases where only a single slide is available, eg. referred cases or cases in which the representative lesion is present on only a single slide, you should still feel free to submit only that single slide.  We ask that if submitting on line you upload your preferred electronic images via the Springer site but it is important that you also send the slides by mail.
c)    Clearly identify and numerically prioritize the radiologic images that you consider to be the most suitable for publication in the program booklet and inclusion in the CD-ROM.
