Abstracts for paper submissions will be considered for presentation either as a component of the traditional Members Meeting Program or as a component of the Special Scientific Session. The Special Scientific Session will occupy one half day and will run in parallel during the second day (Tuesday) of the Members Meeting.
This year we would encourage you to submit both cases and papers online via the Skeletal Radiology Editorial Manager System: (see details in "Call for Cases section below)
*We also need the original glass slides for cases with histopathology and these should be sent by mail to Dr. Leonard B. Kahn at the address listed below and on the submission form.
If you would prefer to use the non-electronic method, we will upload the data for you. This is in order to encourage submissions from those who are less familiar with electronic submissions. Submission form enclosed.
All Scientific paper abstracts should be submitted to Marco Zanetti, MD Department of Radiology, Orthopaedic University Hospital Balgrist, Forchstrasse 340, CH-8008 Zurich, Switzerland.
All case submissions should be submitted to Leonard B. Kahn, MD, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Department of Pathology, 270-05 76 Ave, New Hyde Park, NY 11040, USA.
We strongly encourage our new members to actively participate in the Members Meeting by submitting one or more cases and/or papers for consideration for presentation.
We have also enclosed a series of guidelines that you are urged to follow in preparation for your case presentation. This is to ensure that your presentation focuses on those clinical, radiologic and pathologic features that illustrate new or lesser known facts relating to your presentation. You should remember that the members of the International Skeletal Society all have significant experience in both bone and soft tissue disease and that it is unnecessary to delivery an exhaustive treatise on the topic of your presentation.
We are also anxious to increase the number of papers and cases relating to non-neoplastic disorders and would encourage members to consider submissions dealing with such topics.
A non-member of the Society may be permitted to submit and present a case provided that the case is co-authored with a member and the non-member must be accompanied at the podium by that member during the presentation.
Also a final reminder! If you presented a case in Washington DC and have not yet submitted an abstract with references, we urge you to do so at this time so that it may be included in next year's CD-ROM.
Sincerely yours,
Leonard B. Kahn, MD, Chair (Members Meeting) Michael J. Klein, MD, Co-Chair (Pathology) David J. Wilson, MBBS, Co-Chair (Radiology) Samuel Kenan, MD, Co-Chair (Orthopedic) Marco Zanetti, MD, Chair (Scientific Program) ISS Members Program Committee
