Membership Guidelines

1. To apply for membership, you must be sponsored by two active members, and you must submit a copy of your curriculum vitae and completed application form prior to May 1 of the year in which you are applying.

2. You should have demonstrated a significant interest in skeletal disorders with half or more of your professional effort in this area.

3. You must have demonstrated interest in the ISS by attending the yearly meetings, publishing in Skeletal Radiology, or similar activities.

4. You should be the first author on a minimum of six publications related to skeletal diseases in peer reviewed journals. (This guideline can be modified if you have fewer publications but can show that you have done high quality research or participated in extraordinary educational activities indicating an ability to communicate information and to contribute to the Society.)

5. You must have a working knowledge of English.

6. You must have completed your residency program more than four years ago.

7. To insure the quality of recommendations: (a) active members are allowed to sponsor only two applicants per year, and (b) recommendation letters must include how long the member has known the applicant and whether they have actually worked together.

8. You must document your interest in joining the Society and indicate how you will support the Society and its activities. This information should be included on the application form.

9. The Membership Committee attempts to maintain a geographic balance in the Society's membership: the proportion of American members should not exceed 66%.
